Recorded between 1930 and 1938 in England. Four Ellington sides feature his orchestra with Cootie Williams, Tricky Sam Nanton, Lawrence Brown, Juan Tizol, Johnny Hodges, Barney Bigard, Harry Carney, Otto Hardwicke, Ellington, Fred Guy, Wellman Braud & Sonny Greer. Jimmy Dorsey's four tracks feature British sessionists Claude Ivy, Alan Ferguson, Spike Hughes & Billy Harty. Benny Carter features a big band that includes Ted Heath (trombone), Freddy Gardner and Billy Munn (piano). Una Mae Carlisle (piano & vocals) has three tracks with outstanding London musicians. She was originally discovered by Fats Waller and played in a similar style.
