Eric Reed (born June 21, 1970) is an American jazz pianist and composer. Born in Philadelphia, he studied in that city's Settlement Music School. Moving to Los Angeles at 11, he studied at the Colburn School of Arts where he met Wynton Marsalis. He joined Wynton's septet from 1989 to 1991. After stints with Joe Henderson and Freddie Hubbard, he returned to the Marsalis group and later the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. His own group, Black Note, released several albums in the 1990s. Reed has worked with Cassandra Wilson, Mary Stallings, Clark Terry, Dianne Reeves, Elvin Jones, Ron Carter, Paula West, Benny Carter, and the Christian McBride combo Inside Straight, He has also scored music for films. Three of his albums have charted on Billboard's Top Jazz Albums.
