Peter Appleyard, OC (26 August 1928 – 17 July 2013) was a British–Canadian jazz vibraphonist, percussionist, and composer. An accomplished drummer, he emigrated from England to Bermuda in 1949, leading the house band at the Princess Hotel. Taking up vibes, he left for New York, eventually settling in Toronto where he became a popular nightclub performer. In the 1970s, he joined Benny Goodman's sextet for tours in Europe and Australia. Returning to Toronto, he played and recorded with many of the city's orchestras and appeared on Canadian television and radio programs.
He had his own live TV show Peter Appleyard Presents featuring visiting jazz greats like Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Mel Tormé and Bob Wilber, many of whom were his close friends. He was made an Officer in the Order of Canada in 1992.
